Ageing
SKIN AGEING is a natural process that is influenced by a number of factors including genetics, exposure to UV radiation, lifestyle, stress and diet. The breakdown of proteins in the skin, namely collagen and elastin cause the skin to look saggy, wrinkled and stretched. One of the biggest factors leading to skin ageing is exposure to UV radiation.
“Inflammaging” describes ageing induced by chronic underlying inflammation that ultimately exhausts the skin’s defense system. Black seed contains anti-inflammatory compounds such as thymoquinone and alpha-pinene, which help reduce inflammaging, including damage caused by UVA radiation.
Black seed oil also promotes thicker collagen fibres, more connnective tissue and greater skin thickness. It has a high vitamin content including vitamins A, B and C all of which assist in fighting free radicals, locking in moisture and preserving the elasticity of the skin.
The ageing process cannot be prevented, but the impact of inflammation on ageing can be reduced. Credé’s Black Seed Skincare range contains several ingredients that can assist. Primary among these is the high dose of Black Seed found in many of our products, which has noted anti-inflammatory properties. In addition, jojoba oil also appears to be an effective anti-ageing agent with known anti-inflammatory properties.
To maximise the anti-ageing effects of our range, we recommend the basic Credé face care routine of Polishing Clay Mask and twice daily use of the Cleansing Milk, the Skin Clearing Serum and the Face Cream. We also highly recommend the use of SPF skin protection to minimise damage caused by UV radiation. We are working on a high-SPF morning face cream – watch this space!
